Evan Smoak returns for the eleventh installment of the Orphan X series, and he’s as badass as ever. Antihero challenges Evan to balance vengeance with mercy during his latest mission. Mercy reminds us of a nearly impossible tenet Evan learned as a trainee assassin in the Orphan program, and one he privately vows to protect–to preserve his humanity. In Antihero, this tenet is tested when he’s challenged to right a wrong without resorting to lethal violence.

Antihero is packed with action and breakneck pacing typical of this outstanding series. I suggest readers start with an earlier book to better understand Evan’s character arc, though first-time readers will find enough backstory in this novel to help them along. Recommended.
