Description:

The walls are closing in on her perfect new life.

Single mother Elodie’s life has become a fairy tale. She’s met Bren, equal parts Golden-retriever-devoted and sinfully handsome. He’s whisked her and her autistic son, Jude, to the crumbling family house he’s renovating. She has a new husband, a new house, and a new baby on the way. Everything is perfect.

Until Jude claims he can hear voices in the walls. He says their renovations are “hurting” the house. Even Elodie can’t ignore it—something strange is going on.

The question is, Is it with the house, or with her son?

And what is Elodie hiding?

Adele’s Review:

Why can’t happy marriages stay happy, and home renovations go smoothly? They can, if not part of a thriller novel. You Did Nothing Wrong blends thriller with horror, sealing protagonist Elodie’s fate from the first chapter. This tense, well-written novel by CG Drews is a modern-day gothic tale that glued this reviewer to the book. Central characters Bren and Elodie are likable newlyweds whose happiness we wish for, and whose marriage seems ideal, until the inevitable inciting incident and subsequent downward spiral. Their old house isn’t built for happily ever after.

This reviewer doesn’t issue five-star reviews often, but You Did Nothing Wrong deserves the accolade. The characters are well drawn, with a special nod to Jude, Elodie’s neurodivergent son, who adds substance and heart to the story. Highly recommended.
