Sarah Pekkanen writes interesting stories and writes them well. When the invitation to review The Women in White hit my mailbox, I immediately accepted, and looked forward to starting the book. The story centers around parapsychology experiments conducted on four university women during the 1960’s. Pekkanen sets the stage perfectly for the time period, where female students are expected to attend classes, volunteer for parapsychology experiments, complete assignments, and rush home to cook dinner for their husbands.

The psychological tests seem innocuous at first, but as time goes by and the demand increases, we watch as the women and their mental stability, marriages, and friendships unravel. What happens next is at the heart of the book.
