Despite its dark title, We Already Dug The Grave is an entertaining thriller, not a horror novel. The opening sentence is one of the best I’ve ever read and hooked me instantly to the story. Sisters Milly and Frances are easy to like, and their devotion to one another is understandable, considering their traumatic childhood. This reviewer especially enjoyed their relationships with their eccentric aunts and the tea leaves they read to bring clarity and a touch of magic to their circumstances. I would have rated this book five stars, since the novel started strong, but some of the later plot points didn’t reasonably follow. Still, this book was a fun read.
